J&K Power Development Corp to set up Kirthai 240 MW hydro electric project

J & K Power Development Corp is planning to set up Kirthai (Stage I) 390 MW hydro electric project across Chenab river in Gulabgarh villages in Kishtwar district of Jammu & Kashmir. The project involves setting up of 122 meter high concrete dam across Chenab river, an underground power house to house 4×60 MW with an investment of Rs. 23000 million. An auxiliary powerhouse of 10 MW is also proposed with a design discharge of 9.5 cumec on the right bank of the river. The company is also planning to set up stage II of the project with 930 MW capacity.
